As a web entity, The Armchair Empire was established in 2000 after an idea for a call-in radio show soured. With a focus on "All Things Gaming" the site set out to cover not only video games but items on the periphery, items related to gaming like action figures and anime. There was also a drive to present wholly original content in the form of feature interviews and editorials.

Most of the staff were with The Armchair Empire for more than ten years, a core of dedicated writers and gamers that bettered themselves and their writing style through their many articles. Much of The Armchair Empire's longevity had to do with they staying power of it's writers.
On May 22, 2012 the Armchair Empire entered its new stage of evolution with The Armchair Empire - Infinite (http://ae-infinite.blogspot.com/), a blog format that allows faster posting of articles, integration of social media features, and more reader interaction. The site also has strong ties to our YouTube channel.
